Running a multi-source analysis

Combine feedback from several sources into one unified analysis.

Multi-source analysis lets you combine feedback from different channels — for example, App Store reviews plus Zendesk tickets plus a Reddit thread — and analyse them together in a single run.

Why use multi-source?

When you analyse feedback from a single source, you only see part of the picture. Customers who leave App Store reviews are different from those who file support tickets. Multi-source analysis triangulates across channels to give you a fuller, more accurate view of your customer experience.

How to run a multi-source analysis

  1. On the CFA page, go to Multiple Feedback mode.
  2. Click the Multi-Source tab.
  3. In the wizard, click Add Source to select your first source (e.g. App Store).
  4. Configure that source (enter the app ID, date range, etc.).
  5. Add further sources by clicking Add Source again.
  6. Once all sources are configured, click Fetch All to retrieve the data.
  7. Preview the combined feedback, then proceed to the analysis step.
  8. Click Analyse to run the full analysis across all sources.

Tips for multi-source analysis

  • Mix source types — combining a public review source (App Store) with a support integration (Zendesk) often reveals the biggest gaps between perceived and actual experience.
  • Balance your sources — if one source has 1,000 items and another has 10, the larger source will dominate the analysis. Consider limiting the larger source for a more balanced view.
  • Label your sources — Threadline tags each piece of feedback with its source, so you can see in the results which source contributed to which finding.

Troubleshooting

One source fails to fetch but others succeed

Remove the failing source, complete the analysis with the others, then investigate the failing source separately. Common causes are authentication issues (for connected sources) or an incorrect ID/URL (for online sources).

The analysis seems to ignore one of my sources

Check that the source actually returned data in the preview step. If it shows 0 items, the fetch may have returned nothing — check the date range or try a broader filter.
